U.S. Postal Service Vape Mail Ban

You might have seen in the news recently that the "vape mail" restriction was passed as part of the COVID relief spending bill. We wanted to explain what this means for you and Electric Tobacconist.

The Preventing All Cigarette Trafficking (PACT) Act was included in the COVID relief spending bill that was passed on December 21, 2020. In short, the new law classifies vaping products as combustible cigarettes and places them under old laws to ensure that sales and taxation are addressed properly.

Another provision of the PACT Act requires the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to create its own regulations for banning vape mail delivery. According to the bill, USPS has up to 120 days from the passage of the PACT Act to declare its new regulations concerning vape mail delivery.

The remainder of the law enforces requirements in the following areas:

• Age verification
• Sales bans or restrictions (e.g., flavor ban)
• Delivery, billing, or shipping
• State and ATF reporting

What does this mean for your vaping products?

Unfortunately, the passage of the PACT Act will likely make it more difficult for adults to access their vaping products.
