The coils are specially designed to be low-resistance — under, or sub, 1 ohm — so that high current can flow through them and generate large amounts of heat and vapor. This makes sub-ohm devices the go-to vape if you want to do cool vape tricks or go cloud chasing, either for your own pleasure or in competitions. 

To get the biggest clouds possible from your sub-ohm device, you’ll need a battery capable of pumping out plenty of power (ideally, above 40 watts). Your sub-ohm tank will most likely have adjustable airflow; make sure you keep it fully open, as the air traveling through it will help keep your tank from overheating at high wattages. For bigger clouds and easier vape tricks, pick a juice with a high VG-PG ratio, as VG is thicker and will give you the luscious clouds you want. Finally, use low-resistance coils that are under 0.5 ohms, which will allow you to ramp up the wattage for huge cloud production. 

Along with big clouds, sub-ohm devices also deliver a far more intense flavor from the e-liquid you're using compared to other vapes; this is because they use more of the juice in the vapor-production process. You may also experience a warmer vape than if you were using other devices thanks to the low-resistance coil and higher wattage.

Easy Vape Tricks for Beginners

Now we get to the other good stuff. Here are five easy vape tricks you can try before moving on to more advanced vape wizardry. And just a note of caution before you get cracking: as vape tricks require a lot of drawing on your vape and then exhaling, you're going to be taking in a sizable amount of nicotine, and too much might make you feel dizzy. 

It's recommended that you use a low-nicotine juice or one with no nicotine at all. Because sub-ohm vaping means you’ll produce twice the amount of vapor, if not more, you’ll also absorb more nicotine per puff. While you're at it, try to practice in a room where there isn't a lot of air movement, or none at all, because it will blow away what you're trying to create. Close your doors and windows and turn off any fans or air conditioning while doing these tricks. And while you might want to keep vaping until you’re literally blue in the face, take it easy and rest between attempts.

Probably the easiest vape trick you can do is The Ghost Hit. Just take a long inhale on your sub-ohm device and hold it in your mouth. Then, very slowly, start to blow it out — but as soon as it leaves, quickly inhale it back in, leaning your head forward to capture it all. You can do this around three times before blowing it all away.  

Next up in our easy and best vape tricks list is The Dragon. It looks super-complicated — and super-impressive — but it's actually another easy vape trick you can learn in a flash. To become a real, breathing dragon, you need to blow vapor out of both nostrils and both sides of our mouth at the same time. All you really need to do is keep the middle part of your mouth closed and exhale through your nose and mouth at the same time. It takes some practice, but you’ll soon get the hang of it.

The French Inhale is another one of our cool vape tricks, and it's also called the Irish Waterfall — because it kind of resembles an upside-down flow of water. So how to French inhale vape? Draw on your sub-ohm device and hold the vapor in your mouth; then slowly exhale the vapor, while at the same time inhaling it through your nose. That’s all there is to it, but it looks totally cool.

This next easy vape trick couldn't be simpler. It's called The Waterfall, and you just take a deep draw of your vape, hold it in and then slowly exhale into something like a small (and empty) water bottle. When it's full of vapor, gently pour it onto a surface, like a table, and draw smiles from those around you.

Wondering how to do O's with vape gear? That's our next trick. Blowing Smoke Rings involves taking vapor into your throat and then priming your tongue, lips, and jaw to expel it and create letter O's. Basically, you're going to make your lips as round as possible, shaping them into an O. Then, while exhaling, repeatedly push the vapor forward with your tongue while making pulsating movements with your jaw and throat. It takes a while to get it right, but it’s totally worth it for the wow factor.
