What is the vape mail ban?
You might have seen in the news recently that the "vape mail" restriction was passed as part of the COVID relief spending bill. We wanted to explain what this means for you and Electric Tobacconist.
Firstly, ET has long been focused on compliance, and all of our sales are in strict accordance with age verification rules; bans and restrictions on sales; and excise taxes. We will be here in the long term and in compliance with the new laws.
The bill that passed is NOT good news because it makes adult access to vaping products more difficult and more expensive. In short, the new law classifies vaping products as combustible cigarettes and places them under old laws to ensure that sales and taxation are addressed properly.
How will my order ship?
As of March 28, 2021, ET and other online sellers will no longer be able to use USPS to deliver vaping products directly to consumers. Although other carriers can be used, there is now a requirement for EVERY delivery to be signed by an adult who must prove their age with a government ID.
ET will be sending your order via UPS, which will be diligent about requiring an adult signature on delivery. The UPS service is more robust and reliable, and it has some additional features that can help. UPS MyChoice® is a service with free and paid ($20 per year) options that can help you to manage your delivery.

Once ET begins shipping solely via UPS on March 28, 2021, we will no longer be able to ship to the state of New York. This is a long-standing policy of UPS. In the event that ET is able to ship to New York via an alternate carrier, we will do so and update our New York customers.
