What are ohms? Which ohmage should I use?

An ohm is a measure of resistance. In terms of vaping, an ohm indicates how much current will pass through the coil. Which ohmage should you choose? Lower-ohm coils (0.5ohm or lower) are typically used in sub-ohm devices and for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping. They produce more vapor and deliver a much more intense flavor. In contrast, higher-ohm coils (0.6ohm or higher) are usually best for low-wattage devices like pod mods and mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping. They produce less vapor than sub-ohm coils but deliver a smoother hit.

When should coils be replaced?

Over time as you use your coil, you will notice a gradual change in the flavor of the vape juice. It may start to have a burnt flavor or dry hits. When the flavor is no longer desirable, it may be time to change your coils.

You may also notice that the coil starts to flood or leak. This generally means that it is oversaturated and that it's time to change coils. Coils can also flood for other reasons such as a thinner e-liquid or too much airflow, and this can be resolved by simply blowing through the mouthpiece. However, if your coil starts flooding when you haven't had problems with it previously, then it's probably a good time to switch coils.
